The Meyer Dancers
TREACLE MAKES...THE MEYER DANCERS
I've always been a fan of 1960s and 1970s pop culture, fashion and music so after DJing at 60s clubs in London (including the Kinks old haunt St.Moritz ) for a few years I naturally set up our dance sisterhood, The Meyer Dancers. I'm the Creative Director for the company as well as regularly performing and choreographing too.
We are inspired by the heroines of Russ Meyers Films, Tina Turner, Pans People & Soul Train dancers. We perform 1960s and 1970s dance; you can expect us to add authenticity and energy to any event, party, festival or footage, that will get everyone dancing! Our company experience includes dancing in the film "Guerilla" by John Ridley, "Lost In London" by Woody Harrelson, on ITV’s “This Morning Show”, at The V&A as part of their Mary Quant exhibition opening, at an authentic psychedelic performance evening at Handel & Hendrix (Jimi Hendrix Museum) in Mayfair, which we also curated. We have also modelled and performed in collaboration with Rimmel Make Up UK, Fifi Chachnil at The V&A and with photographer Matt Henry (as featured in The Guardian 2017). The Meyer Dancers have performed for countless bands and DJs including original 60's icons The Pretty Things, Arthur Brown, The Trashmen, Geno Washington and The Sonics. Festival tours include Glastonbury, Latitude, Lovebox, Secret Garden Party, Isle of Wight, The Trip Out and Berlin Beat Explosion. The Meyer Dancers also lead 1960’s style Go-Go workshops, classes and courses. For more information or to book please visit themeyerdancers.com
